Death & corpse, Ashram Online guide

Getting started

Death & corpse

Dying without karma costs no items; dying while carrying karma leaves everything in a corpse others can loot. Here is exactly who loses what, for how long, and how it is recovered.

Knocked down first

Knocked down first

At zero health the character is knocked down. An ally can lift them before time runs out; if nobody comes, or if they are finished off, they die.

No karma, nothing lost

No karma, nothing lost

Whoever dies with a white name keeps their bag, worn gear and all their money: no corpse is left. Death only costs 5 % durability on every piece, and 5 % of the level’s experience if a monster did the killing (dying to another player takes no experience).

With karma, everything drops

With karma, everything drops

Whoever dies carrying karma loses everything into a corpse: bag, worn gear and money, split into gold, silver and copper coins. Only bound items survive, like the Hearthstone, and whatever sits in the vault.

2 minutes in plain sight

The corpse appears wearing the dead player’s pieces and anyone can loot it for 2 minutes; it undresses as pieces are taken. Loot reveals one item per second.

Afterwards, owner only

Afterwards, owner only

After that window the corpse stops being public: only its owner sees and loots it, up to 10 minutes from the death. At 10 minutes it vanishes with whatever is still inside. Every death leaves its own body; up to five are kept per player.

The tombstone on the compass

The tombstone on the compass

The corpse is marked on the compass with its distance and always comes first in the list: getting your things back does not depend on remembering the spot.

Watchman’s Candle

Watchman’s Candle

A Premium Store and pass consumable: the NEXT corpse will be public for only 30 seconds instead of 2 minutes. It is lit beforehand and spent on a death with karma, not on use.

Fall rescue

Fall rescue

If the character falls endlessly out of the world, after 12 seconds the server puts them back at the zone’s refuge, with no death and no loss.
