Rarities & rolls

How what a piece carries is decided when it drops: the rarity it rolls, how many affixes it holds, which family they come from and the cap at every level. With a calculator.

What a roll is

What a roll is

Every weapon, armor piece, jewel or backpack that drops is generated on the server with its own roll: its rarity, how many affixes it carries, which family they belong to and the value of each. Two pieces with the same name are never identical.

Rarity rules twice

Rarity rules twice

Rarity decides the NUMBER of affixes (each grade adds one) and the MAGNITUDE of all of them: a Legendary piece multiplies every value by 3.2 and a Common one by 1.0. That is why an Epic of the same level is not "a bit better": it carries more lines and each line is worth more.

Level scales the cap

Level scales the cap

Every item level above 1 adds 4 % to the value of every affix, up to double at level 26. A legendary level-15 ring reaches the real cap of the game: ×3.2 from rarity and ×1.56 from level.

One family per piece

One family per piece

70 % of pieces roll one of the four themed families and only draw stats from that list; 30 % are Wanderer: they mix all four and are the only way to get exotic affixes. Jewelry does not roll a family: its gem sets it.

Upgrading later

Upgrading later

The Rank Stone raises a weapon one rarity grade: its existing affixes grow by the same proportion as a drop of that grade and, if the new grade allows more lines, a new one appears without repeating a stat. Enchanting scrolls engrave an affix with the SAME formula as a drop.

Earned pieces do not roll

Earned pieces do not roll

Quest jewels and unique backpacks come with every affix at its MAXIMUM value: they are a milestone, not a roll. Aeon Pass gear arrives Epic with maxed affixes of the lineage family.

Odds of each rarity when a piece drops, the multiplier applied to every affix and how many affixes it carries by item level. Mythic exists (0.1 %) and cannot be reached with a Rank Stone: it only drops.

Pick the piece level, the rarity it dropped with and its family: below you get how many affixes it carries and the real range (min and max) of every possible stat. These are the server’s numbers; the concrete value of each line is rolled inside that range.
